Our vision
Everyone should have access to free quality education. JANA aims at reducing the high drop-out rate and thus protect children from child marriage and child labour, give them self-confidence through education and enable them to have a healthy and promising future.

Our history
Our founder Khan who has been living in Europe for more than 10 years, visited his hometown Boalmari in 2013 together with his newly-wed German wife Kirsten. During their stay in rural Bangladesh, both decided to make a change for children of excluded communities by giving them a chance for a better future.
JANA was established in 2014, an NGO that is based in Vienna, their chosen hometown. Over the course of 6 years, two teams have been working together to reach the overall goal: improve education and development for vulnerable children and the community. And we are growing!
JANA's Team
In coordination with the team in Bangladesh, JANA Vienna takes on the activities of project development, administration, communication and fundraising on a voluntary basis. The team travels to Bangladesh at least once a year. Thanks to our founder Khan, we not only have a local family there, but also a large network of friends, partners and supporters.
Team JANA Boalmari, working full-time, part-time and voluntarily, implements the activities: students are taught, children, families and schools are looked after, progress and impact are recorded and measured, and much more.
JANA's Work
So far, not a single child dropped out of primary school!
JANA bears all training costs, including teaching materials and school uniforms. Currently, we are expanding our activities towards raising environmental awareness and sustainable agriculture. In December 2020, JANA's gardening project starts!
